The mission of the Network for a Healthy California is to create innovative partnerships that promote healthy eating and physical activity among lower -income community members.
South Santa Barbara County: 
The focus in south county is on promoting the availability of healthy foods and beverages in school settings. Staff work with the Wellness Committee of the Santa Barbara School District to promote healthy policies and practices. Staff also assist with implementation of the Harvest of the Month program in eligible schools.

North Santa Barbara County:
The focus in north county is on increasing purchase of healthy foods and nutrition education for the member organizations of the Foodbank of Santa Barbara, primarily at the Santa Maria warehouse site. Staff also support the Santa Maria-Bonita K-8 school district with implementation of their wellness policies. Incorporating Harvest of the Month fruits and vegetables into school meals, focusing on locally grown produce delivered direct to school sites is in process.

County-Wide/Regional:
Partners for Fit Youth is a Santa Barbara County-wide coalition, started in Summer 2001, that addresses the growing childhood obesity epidemic. Meetings are monthly at Lake Cachuma Recreation Center and new partners are welcome. For information, call the Partners for Fit Youth Coordinator at 963-8566 ext. 221 or 226.
The Gold Coast Collaborative for Nutrition and Fitness (GCC) is a coalition of community members from the Counties of Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo who address the childhood obesity epidemic with the following audiences: low-income people, community leaders and advocates, and media representatives.
