The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department offers several nutrition education and promotion programs designed to prevent nutrition-related health problems through healthy eating and physical activity.

Health Crisis in Paradise, released May, 2004, is the policy brief highlighting the impacts of the childhood overweight epidemic on the youth of our region. It was produced by the Gold Coast Collaborative a group of nineteen members who are professionals in health, social services, and education in the counties of the Gold Coast - Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo.
