Bike Helmet & Car Seat Program

The EMS Agency's goal is to promote bike safety increase access to and promote proper use of bike helmets and car seats for children.

Hospital emergency departments throughout Santa Barbara County have teamed up with the EMS Agency to help distribute bike helmets. The helmets are sold at a reasonable cost of nine dollars provided to low income families. The goal is to reduce head injuries in children.

Another goal of the EMS Agency is to work with other community organizations to ensure that families have properly installed car seats for their children. The EMS Agency is planning to sponsor training for a team of individuals to conduct child car seat inspections throughout the community.
