The County of
Santa Barbara, Environmental Health Services is a dedicated team
of professionals who strive to protect the health and safety of
the citizens of Santa Barbara County, and to improve and
maintain a high quality of life.
Registered Environmental Health Specialists (REHS) work in
programs dealing with food facilities, detention facilities,
water supplies, public swimming pools, solid waste, and
individual sewage deposal systems.
Administration and Accounting support staff are responsive to the day-to-day challenges
and dedicated in accomplishing the goals and objectives. |

New Rule for Pools and Spa Drains - Virginia Graeme Baker Pool
and Spa Safety Act -
A new federal rule, effective Dec. 19, 2008 requires all pools and spas
to installed a new type of anti-entrapment drain cover. The rule
further requires pools or spas with single main drains to be equipped
with additional specified devices or systems. Please note that any
equipment or structural alternation to your permitted pool requires
prior approval from Environmental Health Services (EHS).
