Program Information

Disease Control
Tuberculosis (TB) Control, Communicable Disease (CD) Control and Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Control works to control communicable disease outbreaks and to monitor the health status of our communities. Preventing epidemics and controlling communicable disease is one of the core functions of public health. The TB Control program screens for both TB infection and TB disease and provides prophylaxis for infection and 4 drug therapy for active disease. CD Control staff responds to outbreaks and to single cases of communicable disease in order to prevent spread in the community. This program also reports all communicable diseases to the State and follows trend in morbidity. STD control works to educate providers and the public about STD's in our population. Follow-up on contact notification, screening, and treatment is also part of the program's activities.

Immunization Project
The Immunization Project's goal is to assure appropriate, on-time immunization for infants, children, adolescents and adults in the county. Outreach and education programs are complemented by population based assessments to measure vaccine coverage. The Project acts as a resource to provide accurate and timely immunization information to private and public health care providers, to schools and child care centers, and to the general public.
