Public Health Laboratory

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Laboratory provides a wide range of testing services supporting the communicable disease control activities of the Public Health Department. For Environmental Health we provide drinking and recreational water testing along with food microbiology to assist in the investigation of outbreaks of food borne illness. Rabies testing is done for the Animal Services Division. The laboratory offers consultation and reference services to the local medical community and facilitates access to the special testing services of the California Department of Health Services laboratories and CDC when necessary.
