Tuberculosis (TB) Control, Communicable
Disease (CD) Control and Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Control
work to control communicable disease outbreaks and to monitor
the health status of our communities. Preventing epidemics and
controlling communicable disease is one of the core functions
of public health. The TB Control program screens for both TB infection
and TB disease and provides prophylaxis for infection and 4 drug
therapy for active disease. CD Control staff responds to outbreaks
and to single cases of communicable disease in order to prevent
spread in the community. STD control
works to educate providers and the public about STD's in our population.
Follow-up on contact notification, screening, and treatment is
also part of the program's activities. Also report all communicable
diseases to the State and follows trend in morbidity.
