Welcome to the website of the Santa Barbara County Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) Program, supporting the children, families and the health care providers of Santa Barbara County. The goals of the program are to assure that eligible children receive well child care & assistance with access to follow up care and to offer support & funding to providers who deliver the care. CHDP is a state program and you can obtain a great deal of information from the State's website.
Well child care is the comprehensive care given to a child and family to assure the health of the child and offer guidance for his/her growth & development. Most of us would call these “check ups”. These doctor visits include reviewing the child's progress, examining the child, giving immunizations, screening for vision & hearing problems, and responding to questions with answers & advice. Click here for details of The CHDP Examination .
The health care providers who offer CHDP examinations are pediatricians, family practitioners and allied health professionals. They may practice in clinics, group settings or independent offices. Click here for a listing of providers: County CHDP Providers.
To find out if your child is eligible for a CHDP examination, click Eligibility.
