Housing and Institution Safety
The quality of our housing is a
significant determinant of health and directly or indirectly affects the physical, social
and mental well-being of each resident. The housing and institution safety program helps
to assure that rental housing is maintained in a healthful and sanitary manner
and that detention facilities, day
camps and organized camps are maintained and operated in a safe and sanitary manner.
This is accomplished by responding to complaints related to sewage spills or
vermin in housing units and by conducting annual inspections of
detention facilities, day use camps, and organized camps.
